How to use the basketball scorecard

Use period scores as the official scoreboard, then add scoring plays, fouls, timeouts, turnovers, and notes to audit the game flow.

Usage notes

  • Total score = sum of all period points
  • Margin = absolute difference between team totals
  • Event gap = period total - included scoring event total

Frequently asked questions

Should event totals match the scoreboard?expand_more

They match when every scoring play is logged. If you track only key plays, the gap shows points not logged as events.

Can I track overtime?expand_more

Yes. Add as many extra periods as needed and label them OT1, OT2, or any local format.
