Strategy reading tips

  • Net effect = pit loss + traffic loss + tyre risk - undercut gain - pace gain across the remaining laps.
  • More negative values suggest time gained; more positive values suggest time lost.
  • Use the separate SC/VSC pit loss to test whether a safety-car window makes the stop worthwhile.

How pit stop strategy comparison works

The tool combines the pace gained after the pit lap with undercut or overcut impact, then subtracts pit loss, traffic loss, and tyre-risk cost to estimate net strategy effect.

Usage notes

  • Remaining laps = total laps - pit lap + 1
  • Normal net effect = normal pit loss + traffic loss + tyre risk - undercut gain - pace gain per lap x remaining laps
  • SC/VSC net effect uses SC/VSC pit loss instead of normal pit loss.

Frequently asked questions

Does a negative net effect always mean the best call?expand_more

It suggests time gain, but track position, overtaking difficulty, tyre degradation, and team tactics still matter.

Can I use it outside Formula racing?expand_more

Yes. For lap-based races, enter pit loss and stint pace to use it as a comparison note.
