Budget safeguards

Include card or exchange fees and a contingency reserve so the travel fund is not understated.

How it works

The planner adds card or exchange fees and a contingency reserve to the entered expenses. Mark each item as planned, booked, or paid to separate flexible estimates from committed and completed spending.

Usage notes

  • Line total = quantity × unit cost
  • Recommended travel fund = entered expenses + payment fees + contingency
  • Per-person daily budget = recommended fund ÷ travelers ÷ trip days

Frequently asked questions

What should I enter as the target budget?expand_more

Enter the total amount available for the trip, including flights and lodging. The planner shows the remaining room or the amount over target.

What is the difference between booked and paid?expand_more

Booked means the cost is committed even if payment is due later. Paid means the transaction is complete. Planned items are still flexible.

Does the calculator fetch live exchange rates?expand_more

This planner works in the currently selected display currency. Check a live currency converter separately and include expected exchange or card costs in the fee rate.
